So far I've identified (as much as possible without microscopic aid) about 20 different species in 13 genus types in Ypsilanti, MI. I probably have about 5 more that I can't identify yet.
Araneus diadematus (Cross Orb Weaver)
Araneus trifolium (Shamrock Weaver)
Argiope trifasciata (Banded Argiope)
Micrathena gracilis (Spined Micrathena)
Cyclosa conica (could be another Cyclosa sp.)
Herpyllus ecclesiasticus (Eastern Parson Spider)
Frontinella communis (Bowl and Doily Weaver) <--funniest common name yet
Cheiracanthium mildei (Longlegged Sac Spider)
Pholcus phalangioides (Long bodied Cellar Spider)
Dolomedes tenebrosus (Dark Fishing Spider)
Dolomedes triton (Six Spotted Fishing Spider)
Phiddipus Audax (Bold Jumping Spider)
Leucauge venusta (Orchard Orb Weaver)
Parasteatoda tepidariorum (Common House Spider)
Xysticus sp. (bad pictures have kept me from any closer ID)
It's funny that just about every species I've found has a common name associated with it on the BugGuide.net. These are all just matches made on visual matches, which of course can be errant, but it's a place to start.
Does anyone else have this hobby? I'm sure Eric and Mandy have their own databases with hundreds, I'm jealous lol, what about the other users in here?
