Mandy can tell you more about this species, but in spiders that use webs to trap prey, it's not uncommon for the males to abandon their webs once they reach sexual maturity. However, such males are usually looking for mates and not actively hunting.
Ungoliant was right on the money: both male and female "Hacklemesh Weavers" build their own web and live in it... but once a male reaches sexual maturity, he will leave his web and venture out to find a mate.
